Episode 7
A Broken Disguise |
[Episode Screencaps] |

This episode focuses on a troupe preparing for a play. It is at first cleverly introduced that the Ayaka is being treated hardly by her adopted mother teaching a dancing part. She accesses with website and receives the doll however we find out later her real intentions for revenge is to get her adopted mothers inheritance.
Ayaka fearing going to hell tries other methods to achieve her goal having her friends try and attack her adopted mother. Later she even has them pour a substance down the lead actresses throat to make her lose her voice. I thought the masks in the scene at her house where a good scary touch.
Thus as the plot progresses it becomes more obvious to the viewer that she is not worthy of being allowed to carry out her revenge. During the investigation of the main participants in the revenge Enma takes a larger part than usual going in disguise wearing a white baseball cap to get information about the Ayaka.
When Ayaka's adopted mother finds out about the plot on the lead actress she disowns Ayaka. The next scene I thought was quite nicely done, feeling her hand has been forced Ayaka goes to retrieve the doll from her locker. Looking at the doll she sees its just a normal straw doll turning round to find Enma sitting at the desk behind her. Enma reveals that the lead actress had accessed the site the night before and made the contract to send her to hell.
The stalking scene for this episode was a little disturbing with this a strange head appearing from parts of Ayaka's body telling the truth whenever she lies (which is all the time). She is asked to confess her sins on a stage while Ichimoku and Hone mock her terrible performance. In the end cornered by the three assistants she is honest explaining her true evil and selfish motives. Enma then levitates up from an apparent trapdoor in the stage and sends her to hell.
The scene where the lead actress was restrained and fluid poured down her throat I thought was quite memorable probably because of the fear of loss of control such a situation triggers. At the end when Ayaka wakes up on the boat she asks "Where is this place?" and Enma replies that this was her most realistic acting she had seen. This light hearted amusing moment was a nice touch to the episode I thought.
